We follow a simple policy: We do not collect personal information about you when you visit our website unless you choose to provide that information to us.  This page explains how we handle information about traffic on our website.

Web Server Traffic

If you only browse through the website, read the pages, or download data from the site, some information is automatically recorded in the exchange between your browser and our server.  This information does not identify you personally.  This is what our server records in its daily logs:

  1. The Internet address of the computer through which you reach the Internet;
    (This is the IP address, a numeric address which is assigned to all computers reachable through the Internet.  In most cases this will be the IP address for a computer system operated by your Internet Service Provider.  In some special cases, this may be the address of the actual computer you use to browse the web, but this address only locates your computer on a network and does not identify you to us.)
  2. The type of browser and operating system used to access our site (for example, Netscape Communicator version 6.2, Windows 98);
  3. The pages you visit on our site;
  4. The date and time each web page is viewed or downloaded; and
  5. If you linked to our site from another website, your browser may show the address of the page on the website from which you came.

We do not use "cookies" on this website.  (A cookie is a short notation or a file written to your computer when visiting some websites.  Cookies have many uses, but they are frequently used to indicate that you have visited a site before.)  Since we do not use cookies, you appear as a unique, unidentified visitor each time that you visit our website.

How We Use the Information

From time to time we make statistical summaries of the webserver logs.  This information is used to determine the most popular areas of the website, the overall volume of traffic to the site, the types of browsers used, and to troubleshoot potential problems with the webpages. After we run these reports, the bulk server logs are deleted.

If You Submit Personal Information to Us

There are email links on our website to help you to contact us if you wish to ask questions or to join the organization.   The amount of identfying information that you provide is up to you.  At a minimum, though, we would need your email address if you would like us to reply to you.

If you contact us through the website, the WVRTC may retain any identifying information you provide in order that we may respond to you and, possibly, follow up with additional information later.

No information will be shared with any other person, organization or business unless you specifically request us to do so.

The WVRTC will not exchange and will not sell any information about its members or anyone who makes inquiries about the organization or activities, either through the website or email, unless we have your express permission to do so.

Changes or Updates to this Policy

If we need to amend or revise this Privacy Policy, we shall prominently display notices of the revision, along with the effective dates, on the website, together with information on how you may request to be removed from any lists or databases stored or maintained by the WVRTC.
